“We are very happy to announce the new Head of the Spanish Riding School’s Heldenberg Training Centre, Florian Zimmermann, who is also Rider at the Spanish Riding School”, comments the CEO of the Spanish Riding School Elisabeth Gürtler. As of now he is responsible for all the activities at the Heldenberg Training Centre in Lower Austria including the on-site horses’ well-being, the best possible staff organization and local conditions for stallions and Riders and finally, the coordination of seminars for the national and international riding world.

The 35-year-old Florian Zimmermann comes from Klagenfurt, the capital of Carinthia. He has already been working at the Spanish Riding School since 1996. In 2007 he was appointed Rider of the School, his first stallion being Conversano Darinka. Now Florian Zimmermann has been promoted to become Head of the Heldenberg Training Centre. “I am looking forward to continuing the work which Chief Rider Andreas Hausberger had started in an excellent way. Originally, the location of Heldenberg only served as the summer quarter of our stallions, however, it has now developed not only into a training centre for our stallions in Vienna, which in a rotation system spend all three months at the centre where they can enjoy the fresh air and nature, but it has also become the place where the training for our 4- year-old stallions from Piber starts. We also offer courses and private lessons for the international riding world in order to communicate and teach the knowledge of the High School of Classical Horsemanship. It is a great honour for me to successfully guide this Centre – by means of all of the other riders of the Spanish Riding School – into the future”, says Florian Zimmermann.

About the Heldenberg Training Centre
Since 2005 the Heldenberg Training Centre in Lower Austria has been at the disposal of our Lipizzaner stallions. It is their summer quarter providing paddocks and pastures as well as a huge area to ride out. All in all, the white stallions are brought to the Centre two to three times a year for six weeks so that they can enjoy a variation in their routine in the fresh air and move freely in plain nature. The stallions also spend their well-earned retirement in these marvellous surroundings.

Since 2010 the Heldenberg has also been – besides the Spanish Riding School in Vienna –the Training Centre for the young stallions. Additionally, we also offer courses and special trainings for the international riding world in order to communicate and teach the knowledge of the High School of Classical Horsemanship. Apart from theoretic courses, riding lessons by Riders with their own horses and professional riding seminars, there are also dressage judge seminars and seminars led by international experts.
